Meeting Matt Mullenweg [Founder of WordPress]

The Founder of WordPress

Everyone has favorite founders, people they admire for the companies they start. Jobs, Disney, Gates, Musk…there are certainly plenty to choose from. One of my favorites is Matt Mullenweg of WordPress [parent company Automattic].  As an online business owner, you’re likely aware of WordPress (and may even have your site built using its platform).

So when Matt was scheduled to show up to a WordPress Meet-Up in Orlando, I made sure to put it on the calendar.

Spoiler Alert. The event was completely worth it. And Matt Mullenweg lived up to the hype. The evening was well organized, based around a Question & Answer session with the aforementioned WordPress founder.  Though not an exact transcript, here are the three themes that I took away from this WordPress meet-up.

Matt Mullenweg on Goals

During the open question and answer session, I was able to ask Matt Mullenweg a question directly. Inspiration, drive, and start-up hustle has always been a favorite subject so I asked the following:

Turner Swann (me): As of right now, how far are you to your original goal and dream when you started WordPress in 2003?
